Homemade Laundry Detergent

Ah yes, this is Kirsten. If you were looking for a cleaverly written blog by Eric, then sorry. But, I have something that I'm so excited to write about: homemade laundry detergent! I came across it on pinterest, and I checked it out and I'm so glad I did!!! This girl made laundry detergent from scratch and it cost only $20, but here's the best part: it lasted her 9 months!!! 9 MONTHS people! She said she does 8 loads a week. I thought this was too good to be true so I went and made some myself this week. See?

It was so easy to make and you can find all of the ingredients in the laundry aisle at your grocery store (I went to Walmart).

I haven't used it yet, but I'm planning on it next week. I'm a total brand snot when it comes to my laundry detergent. Yes, I use Tide. We'll see what happens with this. I read everyone's comments on this girl's blog about her detergent and they all said it worked great. If it does for me then I'm sold. Twenty bucks for laundry detergent for a year? Yes, please!! When I told Eric that I was so excited to use it he replied that I'm a total mom. Why yes, yes I am. Thank you, dear.

Thank you, thank you Being Creative to Keep My Sanity lady!!!

Side note: She also made homemade dishwashing detergent that I'm totally going to make once mine runs out.

Hey Lady, I've been using homemade laundry soap for almost 2 years and it's awesome. I still have to use a strong stain remover to do battle with my children's stains, but I love my soap. The bonus for me is that my kids all needed hypoallergenic/mild soaps before, so this is waaaaaay cheaper than those. My soap is liquid, though. It can be a bit of a pain. Maybe it's time to try dry!

I have been making laundry soap for a while as well and it works wonderfully. Mine is liquid and I put it in old liquid laundry bottles that I have used. With the kids clothes I still use oxyclean with it.
